OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

Futures School is deeply committed to diversity in all we do and stand for. It is at the heart of our work to provide opportunities and empower students with disabilities and those who are disadvantaged to pursue life to its fullest and know the satisfaction of personal accomplishments.

Education Services

INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS / COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS
Grocery shopping, banking and bill paying can be manageable and rewarding accomplishments with help from a Futures School mentor.

TRANSITION PLANNING & SUPPORT SERVICES
As students move on to higher education or into the work force, our transition planning and support services play a critical role with positive results. Our staff works with schools to assist in the development and implementation of practical Individual Transition Plans (ITP) for students.

INCLUSION SUPPORT SERVICES
We work closely with school systems to facilitate a smooth transition for students returning to public school from out-of-district placements and offer one-on-one support to students within the district school as needed.

TEMPORARY EDUCATION SERVICES
Our custom-designed plans ease the transition back into the educational environment for students who have left school for any reason.

INDEPENDENT ASSESSMENTS / EVALUATIONS
As a knowledgeable neutral party, we help families and school systems resolve differing opinions. Collaborating with the school, healthcare professionals and/or other parties, we gather and review the student’s previous assessments and other relevant information and conduct additional evaluations as needed. As a clear profile evolves, we design a customized plan and program to meet the student’s unique educational needs.

MENTORING
One of our most valuable services is in-the-moment emotional support and instruction in important social skills.

CONSULTING SERVICES / IN-SERVICE TRAINING
Our staff is exceptional, comprising specialists on educational and behavioral issues, brain injuries, autism, cerebral palsy, deafness, emotional issues, intellectual disabilities, and complex assistive technologies. We are here to help guide and support parents and teachers in understanding disabilities and special needs.

For educators, we offer in-service training programs in effective teaching and evidence-based educational practices, designing goals, setting objectives, and behavior intervention plans and evaluation of student progress.

SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATION SERVICES
Each Year Futures offers Supplemental Education Services to more than 400 students enrolled in Connecticut Public Schools. To receive these services students must attend a Title I school and receive free or reduced lunches. The school they attend must also be labeled as in need of improvement for a minimum of two years. Eligible students receive 1:1 and 2:1 instruction in their home community.
